Baby Talk

Nobody wants to be remembered as a baby

Do you remember those cringe-factor-10 moments as a teenager? Your aged aunt comes to stay whom you haven't seen for three years. The first thing she says to you is 'My, haven't you grown'. Who wants to be remembered as a baby?

Then there's that first time you take a girlfriend home to meet the family. You so want to impress her, but inwardly you know that at any moment you could be horribly embarrassed. Your mother blows it, 'Here comes my baby'. You wish the ground would open up. Nobody wants to be remembered as a baby. Do you?

Now if you asked the person in the street what the Christmas story is all about, they would probably say it is about cribs, shepherds, angels and the baby. But Jesus does not want to be remembered just as a baby any more than we do.

Read on in the rest of the story to learn how he died on a cross so that we could be forgiven and become whole people.

Let's celebrate his birth this Christmas, but let us remember the reason he was born. To die for us.

Have a happy Christmas
