Sixty years on from D-Day
Over 50 senior citizens celebrating sixty years since D-Day (in October) with Ashtead Rotarians and their wives in St George's hall. After a slap-up supper of steak and kidney pie, pudding and coffee they sang rousing old wartime songs. Peter Chappell played the keyboard and an impromptu pairing of Ashtead-born Daphne Cunningham and Nancy Coulter led the singing on the roving microphone.
