From Ashtead to Ashburnham

Nearly 300 people spent the August Bank Holiday weekend in the heart of the Sussex countryside, taking part in the third parish houseparty.

For some it was a chance to meet up with old friends, for others an opportunity to unwind and soak up the sunshine, but for all a way of sharing their faith in God.

Among the highlights of the weekend were some hilarious home-grown entertainment, inspirational and thought-provoking talks by guest speaker Russ Parker, brilliant events for the youngsters, moving times of worship and an expedition led by rector Bob Kiteley on a cruiser around Bewl Water.

Rick and Lynne Slater, who went with their two children Tom (7) and Rachel (4), commented, "There were so many opportunities for great fellowship over meals and outdoor activities and times of laughter especially at the talent show."

"Tom and Rachel had great fun and it was lovely to hear the children singing with such enthusiasm."

Houseparty organiser Clive Trapmore said the visit to Ashburnham was like visiting an old friend again. As ever, the worship was uplifting, the youth survived their night of prayer and the fireworks and all our helpers were fantastic.
