Have you ever considered taking part in a parenting course but wondered whether or not it would be relevant?
The Parish has been running two parenting courses for a number of years, for parents with children aged 5-11 and for parents of teenagers. They follow the 'What Can a Parent Do?' course and are an opportunity for parents to meet and discuss common areas of difficulty. The meetings are informal, starting with refreshments followed by a video and then opportunities to talk in small groups. The Family Caring Trust has designed this course "for ordinary parents, including those who are single or separated and those whose families are broken or mixed as well as those who are reasonably happy". |

| Parents have asked whether they will get much from the course if they are having no problems with their teenagers!
Leader, Sarah Boswell says, "It is a bit like an antenatal group. Everyone is there to learn new skills in uncharted territory.
Some people may have an easy ride with their first child only to realise that second time round it is a totally different ball game."
The courses are held one evening a week for six weeks. There are no easy answers. Every family and child is different. People who have attended have benefited in many different ways. Some were relieved to find that the problems they were experiencing were "normal" and shared by many in the group. If you are interested in attending or would like further information please contact Sarah Boswell or Ruth Hopper via St George's Christian Centre. | ||
