All set to go at St George's

At last the final planning permission has been granted for building work to start at St George's Church. Demolition of the old halls will start in mid-September.
After a decade of planning, a new halls and office complex is about to be built at St George's Church Barnett Wood Lane. "This is an exciting moment for the Church," says Rector Bob Kiteley. "Its great to get on with the building, but the real excitement is that this project will create a facility that will expand the ways that we as a church can serve the community in Ashtead."

"I'm thrilled to see us set the church building in good order at the beginning of a new millennium," says Churchwarden Alaisdair Wallace, who has worked hard to keep the momentum going.

The last services to be held in St George's Church until after the project is completed will be on Sunday 5 September.
