Lime Tree Court: A decade of care

In September Lime Tree Court is ten years old.

Built on the site of the former Ashtead Pottery, just next to the Shell petrol station, Lime Tree Court provides sheltered housing for independent elderly people. Each resident has a fully fitted bed-sit with kitchen - tenants adding personal furniture and furnishings.

A few comments from some of the 41 mainly female residents show how successful the council-run home is doing: "I couldn't wish for a better place." "The staff help in every way." "Good cheerful wardens." "Fresh cooked food." "A happy atmosphere."

Sue, deputy for 3 years, and now Warden for 6, has made The Court the place it is, ably assisted by Pat and many other assistants. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and newcomers quickly settle down after the hassle of giving up their old homes.

Tucking in to tasty food
Bingo, keep fit, music, hairdressing, communal lunches (with wine on Sundays), socials and entertainment, a church service once a month and a mid-week monthly Communion, together with an annual Family Day are some of the good things enjoyed at LTC.

"What qualities does a Warden need?" "Common sense, a caring heart, experience and above all a good sense of humour," replied Sue.
