Drug awareness

Nearly 200 Ashtead parents attended a highly informative awareness meeting on drugs and young people in February at the Peace Memorial Hall.

At the meeting, experts from the local Youth Service, health professionals and the police answered the questions all parents want to know, including: What are the real dangers of drugs? How do you recognise if your son or daughter has a problem? and, what can you do to help?

The meeting was organised by the Ashtead Rotary Club in co-operation with Therfield, City of London Freemen's, Parsons Mead, and St Andrew's schools. The response was so favourable that the organisers plan to hold similar meetings in future. Parents or teachers who would like to contribute ideas or help in organising future such events should contact John Parker, the Ashtead Rotary Club (278523) or John Parker     jna.parker@virgin.net giving as the subject: Parents meeting.
