The Crafty Corner

Stained Glass Window Biscuits

You will need a quantity of plain biscuit dough, 1 egg yolk, red and green food colouring and a 227g packet of clear boiled sweets.

Roll out the dough thinly and cut into rectangles 10 x 6cm. Cut off the two top corners of each rectangle and shape into a dome to represent a window. Using small cutters, cut out 3 shapes from each window. Divide the egg yolk in two and colour one half red and the other green. Brush the window frames with one or other of the egg glazes. Place the biscuits on grease-proof paper on a baking tray. Break up the boiled sweets and place the bits in the windows. Make a small hole in the top of each window with a drinking straw. Bake in a preheated oven, 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4, for 10 mins. Leave to cool. Thread ribbon through the hole and hang up as decorations or give as presents.
