Support in bereavement
If you have ever experienced bereavement, you might have felt a sense of isolation and of being 'lost'. If you know someone who is bereaved, it is sometimes easier to cross the road to avoid contact. What do you say, anyway?
Drawing Enfolded in God's Love According to Pastoral Care Director, Sharon Seal, we don't have to say words. Being there and just listening is all we need to do. Sharon said: "Listening is the greatest healing anyone can offer another person, so the Parish team offers to visit anyone who has been bereaved. The 12 members of the bereavement team aim to visit within one month of a funeral, and offer help as appropriate." Sharon continued: "We are not here to intrude in any way, but to offer support in the first few months. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you or someone you know would welcome a call."

This autumn sees the start of a monthly opportunity to meet with others who are bereaved, and to share experiences over a cup of tea. Nothing is expected of those who come, and the team can arrange transport and someone to go with, if it is hard for people to come. Details of this 3 October and an Annual Service to remember those whom we have lost 18 September are given in the Festival Diary (back page).
