Betty's recognition
The achievements of a local 'powerhouse' were recognised by the Rotary Club at this year's Ashtead Village Day, when Betty Battle was declared Individual Winner of their Community Services Awards.
Photo Betty Betty joined the Royal National Lifeboat Association in 1979 and has worked tirelessly for them ever since. In 1995, the first boat - bought with the fruits of her fundraising success - was named 'Betty Battle' Atlantic 75. In May this year, her second boat was launched, joining the first in service at Hayling Island.

Betty's other local involvement includes support to the Guiding movement, Ashtead Cricket Club and Ashtead Players. The Rotarian selection panel were unanimous in declaring Betty a very worthy winner!
