The BIG questions answered at Alpha
One Alpha course-goer, Nicki, tells her story:
"I lost my father six years ago, and started to think about the route my life was taking. Then a friend invited me to St George's. I could see that the people around me had something different about them, but I just didn't understand what that was.

"About a year later I started the 10-week Alpha course. Each evening, we would meet for a friendly meal in the church café to break the ice before listening to a talk about a key aspect of Christianity. Afterwards we split into smaller groups to explore our thoughts and feeling on the topics.

"Unlike a normal evening course, you have to invest a certain amount of yourself - the issues would be buzzing around my head, and I would regularly sit in the car with a friend on the way home, discussing them for another hour.

"I thought you had to be a good person to become a Christian. Now I realise that it's OK to make mistakes. Mainly, though, I have found a new life-long friend in Jesus who is as real as any of my best friends. Now when things go wrong I can say 'actually, it's OK'."

The next Alpha course begins with a supper on 21 September at 7.30pm in St George's Christian Centre.
