Each scheme has a co-ordinator, and ideally a deputy, and is run by the residents with the help of the Police. PC 2175 Jason Woods, as our Neighbourhood Specialist Officer, provides this help. He produces regular newsletters and emails, which are distributed to co-ordinators who in turn pass the information to their residents. These newsletters contain up-to-date information on crime in Ashtead along with warnings and practical advice.
Many members find that NHW brings the community together. It can also save money on house insurance and provides direct contact with a police officer.
Without a co-ordinator, a scheme will not function properly.
There are currently vacancies for co-ordinators in the following roads: Dene Road, Ralliwood Road, Newton Wood Road and Ottways Lane.
This role does not involve a great deal of work, perhaps a couple of hours a month.
