Message in a Bottle
The Message in a Bottle scheme is a simple and practical aid to the vulnerable and elderly. This year the Leatherhead Lions Club is distributing over 17,000 specially designed plastic bottles in Mole Valley that can provide key information to the emergency services when they are called to a person's home.

For someone in trouble and unable to communicate, the bottle will inform the emergency crew of their name, next of kin, doctor's name, medical history, medication and pet details. Green cross stickers on the back of the front door and on the fridge show the emergency services where the bottle is. "Having a bottle can be a means of saving their life because ambulance crew can take the right action quickly, having read the bottle contents," says Frank Sinnock of the Leatherhead Lions Club.

The scheme is in operation in a number of locations in Surrey and elsewhere. With the help of numerous sponsors, the bottles and labels are free of charge and are available from doctors' surgeries, pharmacies, libraries and other shops. For further information contact Frank Sinnock on 274796
