Car Drivers - Can You Help?

There is an urgent need in Ashtead, and it is hoped that someone reading this will feel moved to respond.

The need is for a comprehensive voluntary transport scheme, such as that successfully operating in Bookham, to convey residents to destinations such as doctors' surgeries, dentists, opticians, hospitals and railway stations, on those occasions when public transport or a personal difficulty present a problem. The limited voluntary help at present available is recognised and much appreciated, but help on a broader basis is required by a growing number of residents.

In Bookham a main organiser works with a number of co-ordinators who hold lists of drivers who have stated their availability. Passengers make contributions to the costs involved. The Bookham organiser is willing to share their knowledge and experience with us in Ashtead.

Could you, would you, be willing to be part of this in Ashtead? If so, please contact Mary Hollamby during office hours on 274765.
