Safe to cross the A24

The A24 could soon become a safer and easier road to cross, if the efforts of a local campaign bear fruit.

St Giles' School Governor Chris Hunt has organised a petition to have a new crossing installed at the Epsom end of The Street: "Ideally this would allow parents to walk their children in safety to either St Giles' School or The Greville."

"Shoppers, church goers and residents would benefit and we hope it would also cut down local car traffic as parents would no longer feel the need to drive to these schools. As Surrey County Council strongly supports the Safe Routes to Schools Initiative, I hope they will address this problem."

If you would like copies of, or to sign, the petition please contact Chris at 2 Pepys Close, Ashtead, KT21 1JR.
