Going going - gone

A mystery Auction held on Saturday 23rd January raised £3,543 for the Parish Project

Over 130 people squashed into their seats in St George's hall for fish and chips and an auction. "This was despite having only sold 20 tickets a week earlier," says organiser Clive Trapmore.

People donated 78 items for the silent auction and 46 for the live auction, including 25 promises of services. Clive says that the success of the event was due largely to the generosity of those who gave their time and items.

After supper local actor Trevor Danby took the stage as auctioneer and presided over many exciting last minute bids that pushed the offers ever higher. The last item was finally sold at 11:15pm, by which time Trevor had been 'in character' for two hours. A memorable performance indeed!

A few items remained unsold: a set of Ladies Golf Clubs and a table top dish-washing machine. Also Chemistry Lessons & Maths Lessons, both to GCSE level. Offers to Clive or Jan (277181).
