PRIMARY COLOURS

Welcome to the first edition of Primary Colours, the page especially for primary school-aged children. There's lots of things to do on this Easter-time page. Have fun!

The Easter holidays are a good time to visit children's farms. At Bocketts Farm each day of the holidays they expect about ten ewes to be lambing in the new lambing shed.

Question:- The name of this page is Primary Colours. What are primary colours? Send your answers in to the address given at the bottom of the page.

Competition

In many European languages the name for Easter comes from the Jewish word "Passover". Can you find out the name for Easter in Danish, French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Swedish and Welsh? Send your answers in to Primary Colours, there'll be a small prize for the winner.

The Crafty Corner

Yoghurt Pot Easter Chicks

  1. Cut out a rectangle, 5cm by 2cm, from orange-coloured card, round the ends, then fold in half to make a beak.
  2. Carefully make a 2cm slit half way down an up-turned yellow fromage frais pot. Put the beak's hinge end into the slit.
  3. Draw round the up-turned pot on some more card, cut out three sides of the square, on the fourth side cut out bird-shaped feet. Glue the card onto the pot. (You could put little Easter eggs inside the pot first if you are going to give the chick to someone as a present.)
  4. Use stickers for the chick's eyes and glue on feathers for it's tail.
