Exam Stress
Do you look back at the summer term at school with memories of rounders, swimming, tennis or cricket? For children today it can mean just one thing, Tests! From 2005 most children between the ages of 11 and 18 will be tested annually. Coursework adds to this pressure and even our youngest children are not exempt from homework.
Image of kids Do any of these statements or questions ring bells with you? "I'm the only one who has to do homework/coursework/revise!" "None of my friends has to do their reading homework every night or learn spellings." "No one else has to study so much in study leave, it's very important to relax and have long breaks." How can I support my child without being pushy? How do working parents cope with their children finishing school at the end of May?

The parenting courses at St George's Christian Centre give parents an opportunity to discuss these types of questions, to listen to each other, share experiences and support each other in these and other possible areas of stress and conflict. So to all of you who feel YOU have exams approaching, good luck and just think it will soon be over and then there are only the results to worry about!

If you are interested in attending our parenting courses, please contact Kate Green (5-11 years) or Sarah Boswell & Ruth Hopper (Teenagers) at the St George's Christian Centre
