| Bookworms across the South East are increasingly keeping space in their diaries for the annual Epsom Book Fair, in aid of NCH and Epsom Methodist Church's (EMC) ambitious redevelopment project. | |||
Laughter in the humour section Now in its fourth year, the two-day fair has gone from strength to strength thanks to organiser Chris Watts, who was enchanted by the huge Edinburgh annual book fair, which takes place around the famous Festival. Last year, the fair raised more than £6,000 with more than 25,000 books on display. The proceeds from this year's event, which took place on 18 and 19 February, are expected to exceed that figure. Any book - ranging from popular children's novels from the pens of J.K. Rowling or Enid Blyton - to local history, gardening, foreign languages, poetry, history, religion, sport and antiquarian - is accepted. There are also sections for CDs, DVDs, LPs, videos and audio tapes. We are very lucky to have a number of helpers in Epsom, Ashtead, Leatherhead and Bookham, who help store, sort and transport books, Chris said.
