Taking Time
Three new pastoral assistants were authorised by the Guildford Diocese in November to assist Sharon Seal, Director of Pastoral Care. Each of them spends several hours a week on different areas of pastoral care.
Jo Francis coordinates a 'meal ministry' for those in a time of crisis. A large number of people from St Giles' and St George's have offered to cook these meals occasionally. "People who receive meals are touched that someone will do this for them so cheerfully," says Jo.

Valerie Beaumont represents the parish as a hospital visitor at Leatherhead on a continuous basis and at Epsom and surrounding hospitals when requested. "I love every aspect of my visiting," says Valerie, "especially meeting those who I would not otherwise come into contact with".

Graham Manly is focusing on visiting the elderly. "Many elderly people would love to have a regular face to come and chat with them," says Graham. This includes those in local nursing homes and others who are housebound. "I find it very rewarding."

Pauline Dyde also joins the team. She trained as a pastoral assistant several years ago and recently moved back to Ashtead with her husband Keith. Pauline will work with young families.
