A New Beginning for John Start
As one door closed, another opened last year for John Start when he was elected a churchwarden.
Photo of John Start Having retired from his daily commute to the City, John has embarked on a new occupation closer to home in the village where he has lived and worshipped for 25 years. He takes over from Alaisdair Wallace as one of two churchwardens, sharing his responsibilities with his Christian namesake, John Kester. He is supported by his wife Mary, a qualified counsellor.

With Alaisdair Wallace continuing as Manager of St George's Christian Centre, John welcomes the opportunity to focus as much on the spiritual health of the church membership as on its bricks and mortar. He said, 'I have always enjoyed being involved with people and I like to be active.' ashtead at Easter wishes him well and many years of active retirement.
