Ground Force meets Playgroup
St Giles' Playgroup garden has been 'Ground Forced' by a group of willing and able volunteers, headed by Martin Hiley.
Photo of Jan and children The playgroup applied for funding from the Early Years and Childcare Services of Surrey County Council and were given £1,400 to enhance the play area for the under 5s. Martin came up with the design, and parents and friends of the playgroup and church-members kindly provided the labour. There were four working party days over the autumn and it was finished in February.

In pure Ground Force style there is an area of decking, bark for a safe landing and tyres used imaginatively. "It will really help the children's motor skills," says Jane Hiley, the playgroup's Supervisor. "It's great to enable them to enjoy fresh air and exercise in a safe environment". The area is multi-sensory and accessible to the disabled. It is hoped that many others who use the hall will enjoy it too.

Anyone interested in the playgroup should contact Jane (273095). Children can start from 2½ until school age.
