You don't need a TV for insight into Victorian Life
Younger people are often astonished to discover what really happened in their ancestors' days and how the Victorians cooked, cleaned, laundered and heated their houses.

Situated in Hampton Cottage near the library, Leatherhead Museum has set up a replica of a kitchen of 150 years ago. It has all the mod cons of Victorian life including a vacuum cleaner.

Two thousand years ago the Romans were producing building products on Ashtead Common; the museum has several examples of their tiles.

Around eighty years ago there were two major manufacturers in Ashtead - Goblin Cleaners and Ashtead Pottery. Visit the museum to see some fine examples of their work and find out where the factories were sited.
