St Giles' Millennium Kneeler Project

1000 years of worship in St Giles' Church were celebrated when Rector Bob Kiteley accepted the first 25 new kneelers at the 11.30 service on December 10th.

The designs, which Bob chose, are of Christian symbols and some are from the inside of the church. The background colours, using Appleton wool, were selected to compliment the already beautiful interior of the church, so that when the light from the jewel colours of the stained glass reflect on them it enhances their warmth with the glow of the polished wood.

All the canvas work was carried out on frames to reduce distortion, and many hours were spent putting 53,400 stitches into even the simplest design.

"Many thanks to those who have spent so much time and care in making the kneelers, and to the churchwardens for adding shelves to keep them safe," says Bob.
